Summer Programme in the Garden
The sun shone and we all enjoyed the amazing talents of our young musicians. The Musica Kirklees Junior Brass Band, under the leadership of Stephen Lord, provided us with a lovely selection of musical items. There was an appreciative audience who, because of the heat, took their seats into the shade. They provided a lovely start to programme of Summer events. Our next event is a group who are new to us, it is Hobson’s Chorus and they will be giving us a conert on Sunday 2rd July. Unfortunately the Jazz Concert on 16th July has had to be cancelled.
The Wednesday afternoon Tea & Cake Group ( who meet at 2pm on the second Wednesday afternoon in the month) went on their summer outing this June. At the suggestion of one of our regular attendees we visited Tropical World in Roundhay Park in Leeds. It was an enjoyable outing on a lovely day. We had plenty of time to look round Tropical World and the beautiful gardens. There was also a good café. Our bus driver Kenny was really helpful getting the bus as near as he could to the entrance.. Not only were the butterflies and birds beautiful but also were the fish in the various tanks.
