Heritage Memorial Garden at Tolson Museum Opening at 2pm on Sunday 12th October

Opening Heritage Memorial Garden

The Heritage Memorial Garden was opened by Mr Ian Fillan, President of the Huddersfield Veterans in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Kirklees. The sun shone and Hade Edge Band played. Ann Denham welcomed the guests who included Huddersfield Veterans, former service personnel, and relatives of service personnel, Sea Cadets, police officers and Friends of Tolson & Ravensknowle. The last post was played, a two minute silence was observed and reveille was played.

The guests were then invited to explore the garden and the information panels. Peter Maris, the sculpture attended with plans of the proposed timeline and sculpture. Afternoon tea was available for all in the Woodhead Lecture Hall.

11am on Tuesday 11th November. There will be a short commemoration in the Garden.

A trough will be in the garden in the performance area for poppies to be placed.

University Lecture: What is a War Poem?

Thursday 13th November 6pm to 7pm. Event details.

By Dr David Rudrum, Senior lecturer at Huddersfield University.

Tea & Cake

Wednesday afternoons 2.00 – 3.30 at the Tolson Museum

12th November. Story of the new WW1 gallery and exhibition.

10th December. Christmas Party.

Bowling green to the rear of Tolson available at all these meetings.
